Good Dear Good release their second single with Lulo Music Group after being signed in January of 2023. Indie pop-rock group Good Dear Good and indie label Lulo Music Group both formed out of the Nova Scotia Community College music community. Their second release “Better”, is available now on all streaming platforms.

Better” explores the adverse effects of losing one’s sense of self and the fleeting relief of self-medication. Thrusting listeners into the quips of mental illness and the detriments of a lack of provincial mental health resources. “Even though you’re tired, wait for the side effects to subside” — a feeling one experiences after soothing themself with their poison of choice. Oftentimes, we resort to substances when we’re feeling gloomy and low — but another part of it is a resort due to lack of provincial help — drawing from themes of their previous release “Coffee and Sunshine,” which was released in April, 2023.

“Better, to me, is all about the temporary relief one finds through their crutch of choice. And that could be anything. Drugs, alcohol, food, technology, sleep, work. Anything. It’s something that doesn’t directly address the root problem, but rather distracts from it for a short time.”- Tim Hatcher, Good Dear Good

Good Dear Good signed with Halifax label Lulo Music Group, which in early 2023, was formed out of the NSCC Music Business program under instructor Evan Newman. Lulo is distributed worldwide through Toronto-based label Outside Music. Technical credits on “Better” include mixing by John Mullane (Future Dad) and masting by Kristian Montano (Montano Mastering. “Better” was produced by Tim Hatcher (Good Dear Good) with a dynamic and striking chorus that tastes of reflection and weariness — while exploring feelings of comfort. Knowing it’s inevitable that these makeshift remedies will only add fuel to the fire — Who are we truly when we’re sober? Good Dear Good have been featured in Exclaim!FYI Music NewsGlobal NewsClick Roll Boom, and Tinnitist.

“Better” is available now on all streaming platforms. You can expect to hear more in the coming weeks about Good Dear Good, as they ramp up for future releases.
