The GayAF Comedy Tour is hitting the road once again, bringing its signature brand of queer joy and hilarity to Moncton, Charlottetown, and Halifax this April, 2025. Led by comedian and creator Robert Watson, GayAF Comedy is on a mission to spread laughter, build community, and uplift LGBTQ+ voices across the country. And Atlantic Canada is next in line for the fun!
Why Now? Why Comedy?
In a recent conversation with Kenney Fitzpatrick, host of the Out Loud Podcast and founder of the Q LGBTQ Creative Network, Watson emphasized the importance of comedy in today’s world. “There’s just so much bad news coming at us,” he said. “We need to laugh, we need to feel community, and we need to come together.”
The GayAF Tour aims to provide exactly that—a space where queers and allies can unite for an evening of laughter, connection, and unapologetic queerness. The lineup features a diverse set of voices, including trans comedian Ava Val, who brings a blend of chaos, magic, and hilarity to the stage. “Ava makes you laugh and learn at the same time,” Robert shared. “She’s exactly what our trans and queer communities need to see right now.”

Comedy Meets Community
One of the most exciting aspects of the tour is its commitment to showcasing local talent. Moncton-based comedian Dylan Mahaney will be joining all three stops of the Atlantic leg, while additional local comedians will take the stage in Charlottetown and Halifax. “I don’t want to just show up as some Toronto comedian saying, ‘Hey, look at me,’” Robert explained. “I want to lift up the comedians around me wherever I go.”
This approach reflects a broader shift happening in Atlantic Canada, where comedy is experiencing a resurgence. “Comedy in the East Coast is really on the ramp-up,” Fitzpatrick noted. “People are making more room for it than ever before.” With major U.S. comedians like Kevin Hart and John Mulaney drawing crowds to the region, there’s a growing appetite for live stand-up. But as Robert pointed out, it’s time for Canada to support its own. “All the big names people mention are straight American men. We need to queer things up and support Canadian comedy!”

What to Expect
Attendees can look forward to a high-energy, queer-as-hell comedy experience. “We’re purveyors of queer joy,” Robert said. “We’re not about punching down—we support our own community while also tackling the absurdities of the world at large.”
While the show will undoubtedly bring the laughs, it will also deliver that special brand of organized chaos that queer folks know and love. “You’re going to be in a room full of queers and allies,” Robert teased. “And it’s going to feel like a rock-and-roll comedy show.”
