Every week I wrote lines somewhere in the Danish outdoors and this changed my perspective and taught me so much! Seriously\, put down your thoughts – it changes you!\nPutting my noisy ‘out of proportion’ feelings into simple phrasesand words suddenly made everything seem so simple. For every walk and line I wrote I posted a photo on Instagram to get feedback and find inspiration through my now 7000 followers who shows so much support. I guess a lot of people\, just like me\, need to re-think and go for a walk sometimes.\nOver the last year or so\, I then took a lot of my poetry-walk pages and turned them into music – this is where my album ‘Pocket Poetry’ came to life. An album consisting of songs from my walks\, for other people to take along on their own walks when things need to change.\nBehind the song (Our Rockets):\nOn one of my walks in my childhood town Vojens\, close to the German border\, I remembered my grandma Inger when she lost her husband Johan. I had never seen her cry and never seen anyone lose their loved ones. I saw for the first time that sometimes life will bring you so much sorrow that you might never snap out of it – but you might learn to live with it. Even though I never think my grandma got over losing my granddad\, I think she learned to live with it. Trying to transcribe its memorizing melody on my piano\, I figured out this song was about the idea of being fearful in love and loving someone who was not only scared of being in love\, but the world seeing it for what it was. It was the first song to be recorded in this new era of music and it might be my favorite.\n“Baby\, I’m Scared” is the fourth and final single released before new album\, “Cycle\,” releases under Grimalkin Records on May 13th.

In fact\, I started writing this song while I was at my most recent Bleachers concert. While on stage Jack Antonoff was talking about how much he missed performing after being unable to do so because of Covid. In his speech\, he said\, “I don’t know what happens tomorrow but we’re here tonight.” Immediately\, I pulled out my phone\, opened the notes app\, and wrote in all caps CHORUS: DON’t KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW BUT WE’RE HERE TONIGHT. The next morning\, still on my post-concert high\, I woke up and was on my way to a thrift store in Brooklyn and the first line to the first verse immediately popped into my head: “That night on the jersey shore\, learned something new that I hadn’t known before.” Between those two pieces\, the song kind of wrote itself.\nEach of the verses describes my experiences at different bleachers concerts\, the pre-chorus is me speaking directly to Jack\, and the chorus is an anthemic reminder that truly any and every night has the potential to change your life. However\, my favorite part of the song is the bridge. It has several bleachers references (like ‘late nights on the overpass you were there for me’ referencing their song I Wanna Get Better) and completes the story by giving the details as to why their music has had such a profound effect on my life. Sonically\, there are tons of nods to the Bleachers but most importantly\, I wanted this song to feel like you’re AT a concert which I believe I accomplished. Finally\, I envision the song as a drunk night out with friends. My hope is that one day I’ll walk into a bar and a bunch of drunk friends will be arm and arm singing the outro “all I know is any night could CHANGE YOUR LIFE!”
