In fact\, I started writing this song while I was at my most recent Bleachers concert. While on stage Jack Antonoff was talking about how much he missed performing after being unable to do so because of Covid. In his speech\, he said\, “I don’t know what happens tomorrow but we’re here tonight.” Immediately\, I pulled out my phone\, opened the notes app\, and wrote in all caps CHORUS: DON’t KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TOMORROW BUT WE’RE HERE TONIGHT. The next morning\, still on my post-concert high\, I woke up and was on my way to a thrift store in Brooklyn and the first line to the first verse immediately popped into my head: “That night on the jersey shore\, learned something new that I hadn’t known before.” Between those two pieces\, the song kind of wrote itself.\nEach of the verses describes my experiences at different bleachers concerts\, the pre-chorus is me speaking directly to Jack\, and the chorus is an anthemic reminder that truly any and every night has the potential to change your life. However\, my favorite part of the song is the bridge. It has several bleachers references (like ‘late nights on the overpass you were there for me’ referencing their song I Wanna Get Better) and completes the story by giving the details as to why their music has had such a profound effect on my life. Sonically\, there are tons of nods to the Bleachers but most importantly\, I wanted this song to feel like you’re AT a concert which I believe I accomplished. Finally\, I envision the song as a drunk night out with friends. My hope is that one day I’ll walk into a bar and a bunch of drunk friends will be arm and arm singing the outro “all I know is any night could CHANGE YOUR LIFE!”

Although several years since they had written together\, (Jillian\, a founding member of Like A Motorcycle left the band in 2016)\, and although the songs are a departure from those they have written together in the past\, the two soon had an EP’s worth of material.We Should’ve Been Plumbers conjure up a nostalgic energy of alternative/grunge music from the 90’s that somehow still feels fresh and relevant. The sound is crafted through a combination of agitated lyrical themes paired with sweet vocal harmonies\, distortion and an overall slower\, dejected delivery. At times uncomfortable but oddly balanced.

But my comfort zone is usually turn up and being emotional. This song required something different from me. It required sexual tension and a calm almost monotone delivery. I became vulnerable in a different way.

The album is an audio visual project with each of it’s singles being accompanied by photography and visuals he created.\nCan’t Get Hold of You is track two on the album\, lyrically it talks about dreams not being fulfilled and the sense that time is running out\, that just when you think life is starting to go the way you want you get thrown a curveball. It is musically inspired by the late 90s pop anthems the came out of Sweden made famous by the likes of Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys.
