Song Details and Information
Michael T Ogilvie gets candid about the pitfalls of social media in his new single “The Weather”. Focusing on the insecurities of comparisons on social platforms, the track follows his outlook that dark times don’t last forever – all clouds have silver linings. The self deprecative lyrics of the verses contrast the optimism within the chorus to emulate the complexity of our emotional thought processes. Written and produced by Michael with collaboration from Dutch producer Marvin Fockens the track plays host to Michael T Ogilvie’s signature electro-pop sound and moody vocals. “The Weather” is the lead track from Michael T Ogilvie’s debut EP – set for release later in the year.

Artist Quote
“I wrote this song a few years ago before shelving it for a while. I didn’t realise until I revisited it how much of an outlet it was for me, but looking back it all makes sense. I was in a headspace where I felt lost, uninspired by the opportunities presented to me and consumed by an addiction to social media. It was important for me to understand that although we all have times where we feel dark clouds overhead, it isn’t forever – better times are on their way. I shared this thought process with my flatmate at the time and she became the inspiration for the female perspective in the second verse. The writing process of this track came quite naturally, which makes it all the more organic and personal to me.”

Artist bio
Creating lyrically honest tracks coupled with elements of electro/dark-pop vibes – Michael T Ogilvie takes great influence from artists such as Tove Lo, MNEK and Troye Sivan; blending unapologetic pop melodies with moody vocals.
