Produced with Grammy-award winning musician Kipper Eldridge (known for his work with Sting), “Renegade” is a folk ballad that dives into the depths of loss through commemoration of life. The personal lyricism paints a scene of vulnerability, emphasized by the acoustic instrumentation and vocal layers that weave for a climactic, charged ending where the artist (who is a well-known LGBTQ+ activist in Indonesia) recognizes the role her grandfather played in developing Kai Mata’s outspoken nature.
