Additional Details
On the 11th of March songwriter and artist XILLAN will release his new song Crowning Gods: a cinematic tale of opposing beliefs. The single is the title track of XILLAN’s upcoming debut EP ‘Crowning Gods’. The sonically bold and dynamic experience for listeners aims to draw them into a story: ‘The lyrics are very vivid so when people listen to this song I want them to see something, I want them to see the story.’ Before a note was even written, XILLAN had finished the lyrics to Crowning Gods: ‘they were vivid, I knew what I wanted to say.’
‘The world is wild’
The world’s shared history is discoloured by a desire to dominate in religion, politics and race: ‘the world is wild, I don’t understand why there is this strong human need to feel superior, a need to divide.’ Crowning Gods sketches a scene of the longstanding confrontation between ideologies from different worlds, challenging each other on a spiritual and religious level by raising existential questions. The song’s reflection on religion is not an aversion to it: ‘belief can be a beautiful thing if it doesn’t make the other into an opponent.’
